Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia, and capital of Vojvodina province. The city lies on the banks of the Danube River and faces the northern slopes of Fruška Gora. During the socialist era, a series of wide boulevards was built, creating an orthogonal network. The best running in Novi Sad is focused on riverside paths — there aren’t many large parks or a significant running infrastructure in the city.

The best place to run in Novi Sad is the nearly 6 km of paths along the left bank of the Danube River. These paths are part of, and can be combined with, our Novi Sad ‘runseeing’ tour. On the right bank, there’s scenic, hilly running at around Petrovaradin Fortress & park, and some riverside paths. A great option for trail running is Fruška Gora National Park, which is a 30-minute drive from the city.

Notes: For getting around Novi Sad, there’s a decent bus system. Also, runners should be aware that summers can be quite hot.
