Suzhou is a large city in China’s southern Jiangsu province, part of the Yangtze Delta megalopolis.  It’s one of the more visited cities in China, known for its canals, stone bridges, pagodas, and gardens.  The city is divided into six urban districts, with the Gusu historic district being wonderful to explore. There’s excellent running in Suzhou, with water being the defining element: lakeside & river trails, and several scenic wetland areas that are lovely for running.

The signature run in Suzhou is along Jinji Lake — do the full 14 km loop or choose a section! Just south, Dushu Lake also nice for running, with 6.5 km of lakeside paths and the neaby Soochow University campus. Other nice waterfront running is at Shihu (Stone) Lake, and along the Suzhou Canal. We also love running in Suzhou’s wetland/ecological parks: Huqiu Wetland Park, Taihu National Wetland Park, & the adjacent Baitang & Shahu Ecological Parks. For a great destination run, take the 30-minute trail for excellent running at Yangcheng Lake Peninsula.
