Locals know that Cooper Young is one of the hippest neighborhoods in Memphis — a hub of arts and culture with a rich history and a tight knit community. It’s a wonderful place to stay if you’re visiting Memphis, and an especially great location for an urban run. For an easy grid loop, you can follow the course of the Cooper Young Festival’s annual 5k. It starts (easily enough) on the corner of Cooper and Young streets, then winds east on Nelson Ave. Turn right up McClean and then continue west on Peabody. Once you reach Cooper, make a final half mile sprint back to the finish line.
