Features:
There are several km of trail along the Petitcodiac River, allowing for some scenic off-road running in the heart of Moncton. They’re also part of the Trans Canada Trail. The more popular section is the ~5 km that runs along the west side of the river between Bore Park and Findlay Blvd. The path is a combination of paved and gravel, and the landscape is a mix of open and wooded. You’ll pass a Running Room store, Treitz Haus (Moncton’s oldest building), Riverfront Park, commemorative monuments, and sports fields. Note the trail is somewhat inland from the river, so most sections don’t have water views. Bonus: a good part of the trail is maintained in winter.
For even more, there are 10+ km of mainly gravel trail on the east side of the river, between Dieppe and Upper Dover. Again, the trail is somewhat inland from the river, so there aren’t a lot of water views. The south end of the trail ends at Dover Rd.
- Add-On: At around the mid-point of the trail, there are additional trails for running in Rotary St-Anselme Park.
- West side: Up to 5.3 km (3.3 miles) one-way; East side: up to 10.5 km (6.5 miles) one-way
- Fairly flat
- Bore Park/Riverfront Park is a good central start point. Or other preferred start point!
