The New Hampshire Seacoast Greenway is a great new addition to the Portsmouth area running scene. This rail-trail, opened in 2024, runs for 8 miles from Portsmouth south to North Hampton. The crushed stone surface trail is located inland, and is a mix of woods, residential sections, and some open fields.
The northern (Portsmouth area) terminus is just south of Rt. 1 off Islington Rd. Head south, through some woods, and passing by some Portsmouth open space, a golf course, and a skate park. The southern end is just past the Hampton Airfield.
Future Plans: There are plans to extend the path south through Hampton and Hampton Falls to Seabrook on the New Hampshire/Massachusetts border.
