Nice Neighborhoods for Running in Columbus

Google Street View

For those who’s like some options in addition to the RiverWalk and Fall Line Trace trails, there are some nice neighborhoods for running in Columbus. Some recommendations:

Historic District & Uptown. There are nice, wide tree-lined streets with sidewalks and older homes in the area just east of the river, north of Highway 280 up to 15th St. Best streets are W 6th Ave. Broadway Ave. & 1st. Ave. are the highlights, running ~1.5 miles between 14th St. & the Golden Park Stadium. Put together a nice run combining the Historic District with the Chattahoochee Riverwalk and Woodruff Riverfront Park. The area also includes Uptown.

Country Club Area. There are nice residential streets for running in the area between I-85 and SR 27, and north of 17th St. The roads streets around the Country Club down to Lakebottom Park are particularly pleasant. Warm Springs Rd. bisects the area, and the Fall Line Trace Trail runs along that as an anchor to the area. At Lakebottom Park, there’s a ~1.5 mile path around the perimeter of the park, as well as a running track.

Just FYI, Golden Park in the Historic District description above is a baseball stadium and not a park in the sense that readers might assume. Also, in the Country Club Area description, Lakebottom Park itself is a good place to run, with a 1.5-mile dirt path around the outside of the park.
