Cerro del Fortin

A challenging trail run with fantastic views over the city, Cerro del Fortin is a popular local exercise spot. Most runners start off on Calle Crespo, where the Escaleras del Fortín, a wide staircase that climbs to the park. At the top of the staircase, pass through the muraled tunnel under 190 to Nicolas Copernico. This brick pathway climbs to Auditorio Guelaguetza and the statue of Benito Juárez for stunning views. Runners can take the dirt road on the right of the auditorium along the hill for 200 m, then turn LEFT onto the dirt path which climbs to the top of the hill, and return via the same route. Alternatively, from the auditorium, runners can continue on Nicolas Copernico to the astronomical observatory. It’s possible to connect to other dirt roads and trails from here. We’ve mapped a ~6 km loop around the hill to give runners an idea of their options.
