Parque Abaeté surrounds the Abaeté Lagoon and the unique white sandbanks of Salvador’s coast. Adventurous runners may enjoy exploring this area on foot. While there are some well-maintained concrete and dirt paths near the lagoon and main entrance, there is also a scenic network of sandy trails reaching out into the dunes. A rough circle around the lagoon is about 2.5 km, but keep in mind there is not a good map of the area available online. If you do venture into the dunes, bring plenty of water, a friend, and prepare for hot and dry conditions.
