Features:
In the northern part of Thunder Bay, it’s possible to stitch together a decent run incorporating Marina Park, the Ravine Trail, Waverly Park, and Hillcrest Park.
Start at Marina Park, which is the real opportunity to run along Lake Superior in Thunder Bay. It’s best accessed via Pearl St. or the Pedestrian Overpass at S Water St. Run north along the Marina Park paths for ~2 km. There are nice views of the water and Sleeping Giant mountain. Use the Marina Overpass to cross back over the railroad tracks. Then, just off McVicar St., get onto the paved Ravine Trail, which goes for 1 km to River St. Retrace your steps for 0.3 km, turning RIGHT on Algoma St. for 0.3 km to Waverly Park, a small city park featuring the Hogarth Fountain, a pavillion, and performing arts center. Exit the north end of the park, LEFT on High St., briefly to the hilltop Hillcrest Park, which features colorful Sunken Gardens, scenic city views, and a WWII memorial. The final section uses the residential Dufferin St. & Wilson St. toward the lake for the return.
