One can put together a quite nice run around the Baylor University campus, incorporating wide pedestrian paths passing by its main buildings, some designated walk/run trails, and a terrific running track in the Baylor Basin area. Baylor is a private Christian University with 20,000 students, centrally located along the Brazos River in Waco. Our ~5 mile mapped route can be used as a guideline. Add with the Waco Riverwalk along the Brazos River.
Our mapped route has three ‘sections’. Start in the the heart of campus off South 3rd St. near the Library. Do a loop on paths around the Fountain Mall and Daniel Plaza. Then, follow the ‘Bear Trail‘ path south along South 3rd., and then along Bagby Ave., for a short loop around Waco Creek. Then, take the impressive Umphrey Pedestrian Bridge over to Baylor Basin, which houses the university’s athletic complex. There’s a 3/4 mile loop around McLane Stadium, and an excellent running track at the adjacent Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium. Return via the bridge to the main campus.
Trail Running: From Baylor, you can run on the 8+ miles of paths headed north along the east and west banks of the Brazos River.
