For some scenic trail running, we love heading to the Grassy Waters Preserve. This 23-square-mile wetlands ecosystem, which is also the freshwater supply for West Palm Beach, features several miles of scenic trails among a landscape of wetlands, tree islands, and forested hammocks. It’s located off Northlake Blvd., just west of the Turnpike, near PGA National. There’s ample parking, restrooms, and a nature center.
There are five distinct trails. This page has an interactive map and information on each trail: length, type of surface, and key features. The best run in Grassy Waters is the Hog Hammock Trail. For a longer run, combine with the Cypress Trail (the parking areas are 0.7 miles apart, but you can cross Northlake Blvd., and there’s a path). t
Cypress Boardwalk Trail. 1-mile RT. Boardwalk over wetlands.
Hog Hammock Trail
Hog Hammock Trail. Up to 4 miles RT, including Promontory Trail spur. The best option for running at Grassy Waters. Crushed shell rock gravel trail with intermittent boardwalks. Note this is more of a trail run. Some nice shade!
Owahee Trail. An option for a longer run. It’s a berm service road, up to 16 miles. More remote & exposed. Caution: part of surface can be soft sand.

A 5-mile 'runseeing' tour of some of Palm Beach's iconic spots: tony Worth Ave., palm-lined residential streets, estates along Ocean Blvd, the famous Breakers Hotel, Lake Trail, Flagler Museum, Giant Kapok Tree, & more
One of the nicest paths for running in south Florida. Gorgeous views of the intercoastal waterway, Palm Beach mansions and landmarks, royal palms, sailboats & yachts. 4.3 miles one-way with a couple of brief interruptions.
A great route in West Palm Beach. Seamless run for nearly 8 miles with views of the intercoastal/Lake Worth the entire way. Wide sidewalk in parts, path in others.
This route combines a couple of our other famed Palm Beach runs, with some added oceanfront sections and an optional jaunt out to Everglades Island. Great water views, tony homes, bridges. Lots of variety!
Spectacular homes, tree-lined residential streets, and several historic districts are worth exploring as a unique, DIY run or as part of one of our other routes. We've included maps, recommended areas, and historical descriptions.
A lovely route exploring the northern part of the island, out to Palm Beach Inlet. Oceanfront and shaded, palm-lined roads, with great water views and spectacular homes. Combine with Lake Trail to make for a wonderful loop.
A new addition to the West Palm Beach running scene! It's a 1.6 mile trail along the west side of Clear Lake. Bucolic with nice lake views. Option to do full lake loop, though it's along a very busy road (with decent sidewalk).
A great running spot in the Lake Worth area, 8 miles south of Palm Beach airport and near Rt. 95. There is a pleasant 4.1 mile bike path around Lake Osbourne, and nearly 7 miles of total paths in the park.
560 acre inland park has 5 miles of walking trails. The 7 miles of mountain biking trails, some located on a capped landfill, provide an opportunity to do a little hill running. Several other recreation facilities in the park.
A terrific spot for running in the western part of West Palm Beach. 13-14 miles of trail suitable for running, around lakes and fields. The park features numerous other recreation facilities, and a 1-mile exercise trail. There's also a running track nearby.
60,000 acre preserve located 25 northwest of West Palm Beach features many miles of roads and trails among a landscape of cypress wetlands, sawgrass marsh, slash pine flatwoods, and hardwood hammock.
A popular destination 15 miles north of Palm Beach. Best places to run in Jupiter are the area around the Juno Beach Pier, Riverbend Park, the work-in-progress Jupiter-Indiantown Trail, and A1A on Jupiter Island.
