Wilmington Parkways Run

Google Street View

This is a run near downtown Wilmington on a couple of attractive parkways with grassy medians and attractive homes well set back from the road. They hearken back to an era of thoughtful urban/neighborhood design. Start on the Kentmere Parkway in the tony Highlands neighborhood, and do a 1/2 mile loop. Turn LEFT on N. Bancroft Parkway, heading southwest, enjoying the greenery and pretty homes. After 0.8 miles, reach the Woodlawn Branch Library, and continue on Bancroft Parkway for another ~1 mile to the end, turning around and retracting your steps.

Add-On Options: You can extend the Kentmere Parkway section by continuing south on Lovering Ave. Also, Rockford Park trails to the tower, or connect to the Brandywine Park trails (see our route there). The residential streets of the Highlands neighborhood are very pleasant as well.

Essentials
  • 4.1 miles (6.6 km) out and back; Good add-on options
  • 109 feet (33m)
  • Delaware Art Museum/Kentmere Parkway
  • Delaware Art Museum (parking)
