The historic old quarter of Marrakech, known as the Medina, remains the most popular tourist area of the city, where shoppers and street vendors congregate inside the 9 meter clay ramparts dating back to the 12th century. The Medina itself is usually too busy for running, but the wide dirt path outside the walls creates a nice 18 km course. There are plenty of passages in and out of the walls for a shorter route if you wish. Note that the northeast section of the wall is broken up – runners will have to cut through Jardin de Bab El Khmass to continue the run. We recommend starting clockwise from Bab El Jdid – this offers plenty of opportunities to truncate or extend the run as you please.
Add-On: Lovely additional paths in the Jardins de Agdal.
