The Riverwalk is the signature run in Tuscaloosa. A scenic paved path runs along the south bank of the Black Warrior River between Manderson Landing near the University of Alabama campus and the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. It’s a 4.4 mile out and back run. There are nice river views along the way. It’s also fun to see the University of Alabama rowing team as you run along the river. Bonus: Lit at night!

Starting at Manderson Landing, you’ll see the Tuscaloosa Bicentennial Statue. Head west, pass through Queen City Park, and then do a loop around the Amphitheater — a popular live music venue — at the west end.
Longer Run Options:
Downtown Loop: For a longer run, we’ve added a loop around some of downtown’s highlights. Take 21st Ave. and do a loop around Government Plaza. Run on 7th St. east to Queen City Ave., which is a lovely, wide street with some of Tuscaloosa’s beautiful, historic homes. Head south through Queen City Park and the Tuscaloosa Public Library to rejoin the path.
University of Alabama Campus. Extensive paths through this large university, with a running track at Coleman Coliseum. Hackberry Ln. is the anchor street. See our route there.

We've mapped a 10k loop to use as a guide for running this large, attractive campus. Pedestrian paths around historic buildings and classic quads, the Bryant-Denny Stadium, and a great running track. Can be combined w/Riverwalk.
A pleasant run on the north side of the Black Warrior River. A paved levee path, also known as the Northport Riverwalk, runs for 2.2 miles. Good add-on to Oliver Lock and Dam, with nice water views.
Combine a run on the 12 miles of trails of the Arboretum with the open, grassy fields of a former golf course. Also adjacent is a ~2 mile perimeter road of the VA hospital and the quiet roads of the Woodland Hills neighborhood.
~11 miles of gravel/dirt trails through a combination of open and wooded terrain in this park located in the Northport part of Tuscaloosa. It's also possible to run on the 1.3 mile park road.
Great spot for easy to moderate trail running in this 1,625-acre park located nine miles northwest of Tuscaloosa. The 23 miles of trails are mainly wooded. Includes 2 miles along Lake Lurleen.
