A major botanical garden and a must-see while in Batumi, with 2,000+ species represented in 3 gardens and 9 geographic zones. It's a good place for a run, with a 2.75 km main paved path and numerous offshoot 'hiking trails'. Hilly!
Located 10 km south of Batumi, Gonio is a popular spot for its beach, ancient Gonio Fortress, and hike to Gonio Cross. The paved path along Gonio Beach goes for 2.75 km, with great water views. Beach isn't very runnable.
There are some terrific hill and trail running opportunities in the green hills and mountains near Batumi. Recommendations are Anuria Mountain, the path to Gonio Cross, and trails in Mtirala National Park and Machakhela National Park.
