Gonio Seafront Promenade

Google Street View

In addition to the 8 km Seafront Promenade in Batumi, there’s another scenic waterfront path in Gonio. Located 10 km south of Batumi, Gonio is a seaside town, and a popular place to visit for its beach, Gonio Fortress, and Gonio Cross (itself a good spot for a hike or challenging hill run). BONUS: Lit at night!

The paved waterfront path runs for 2.75 km. Access it from the center of Gonio’s hotels, and run on the the path paralleling Gonio Beach for ~0.75 km south to the end or for ~2 km north. There are good views of the beach and the water the whole way. Note that the path is quite open and exposed, with little shade.

Unfortunately, even though the Gonio waterfront path is just a few km south of the southern terminus of the Batumi Seafront Promenade, the section long Highway E70 connecting them is not safe for running.

Note: Gonio Beach isn’t very good for running — the sand is soft and pebbly.
