Lake Saiko — Best Sections For Running

Flickr: Guilhem Vellut

Lake Saiko is one of Fuji Five Lakes, and is just west of Lake Kawaguchi. A full loop of the lake on the perimeter road is 10.6 km. Although the road it scenic, there’s no shoulder or sidewalk along most of its length. There are some sections at the southwest end that are well away from the lake.

The best section for running at Lake Saiko is the section of road on the south end between Camp Koyodai to just east of the Nishinoumi Camping Ground. This 2.2 km stretch features a good shoulder and wonderful lake and mountain views.

Essentials
  • South section: 2.2 km one-way; Entire lake loop is 10.6 km
  • Rolling hills
  • Parking area just east of Camp Koyodai
  • Parking lot just east of Camp Koyodai
