For an easy off-road run in Grand Rapids, doing a section of the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail is a great option. This rail-trail traverses 92 miles from Comstock Park in the northern part of Grand Rapids to Cadillac. The terrain is a combination of open & wooded, as the trail passes through 15 cities and 14 open deck bridges. TRAIL MAP

We’ve mapped a 9.5 mile section starting from the northern end of Riverside Park, to the Rockford Dam Overlook in Rockford. This section of the trail is a paved surface. The first 5 miles are fairly flat, then it’s slight uphill toward Rockford. For the first two miles, there are options along the Grand River or via Comstock Park.

Add-On: Head south through Riverside Park for 5+ miles of running along the Grand River.
