The Underline Trail

Creative Commons: Dtobias

The Underline is an ambitious new trail that expands and improves the running options in downtown Miami. Modeled after the Highline in New York, this paved ‘linear park’ rail-trail runs underneath Miami’s Metrorail line. In addition to being a multi-use trail, the Underline is organized as a series of ‘rooms’, with features such as fitness stations, other recreational facilities, an outdoor stage, street art, & more. As of August 2024, 2.8 miles of the trail from the Miami River to SW 19th Ave. are open, with plans to extend another 7.4 miles to the Dadeland Metrorail station.  TRAIL INFORMATION

The northern terminus of the Underline connects with the Miami River Trail at SW 7th St. Follow the trail south to Coral Way, where Phase 2 recently opened, continuing to SW 19th Ave. There are many amenities and features along the way (as well as water and restrooms), described in detail here.

Add-Ons/Variations: Combine the Underline with our other downtown Miami routes, including the Miami River Trail (at the northern terminus of the Underline), Bayfront, & Brickell, and even over to Key Biscayne.
