Florianópolis Waterfront Run

Florianopolis waterfront
Roberto Solon

The waterfront path accessible from the center of Florianópolis is the signature run in the city. Paved, dedicated pathways run along Baía Norte for up to 9 km. Along most of the way, there’s both a wide walkway/promenade, and a cycle path. There are wonderful views of the water and surrounding mountains the whole way.

There are two sections of this route: in central Florianópolis, the Ciclovia Beira mar Norte runs for 6 km along the water, around Ponta do Recife, ending at Manguezal Nature Preserve. For a longer run, there’s also a 2 km waterfront path in the Estreito neighborhood, using the scenic Ponte Hercílio Luz suspension bridge (good pedestrian access). Note: you have to get off the waterfront path to get access the bridge.

Essentials
  • Up to 9 km (5.6 miles) one-way
  • Flat -- except for bridge access
  • Either in central Florianópolis or the Estreito neighborhood
  • In central Florianópolis, use R. Des. Arno Hoeschl
