This 10k ‘runseeing’ tour of Belgrade is easy to follow and has a nice variety: the largely pedestrianized historic centre, the upscale Dorćol neighborhood, parks, a historic fortress, and riverfront paths. We cover mainly the older part of Belgrade, rather than the post-WW2 communist era New Belgrade on the river’s left bank. Historic Belgrade is a mix of neoclassical, Ottoman, and Soviet-era architecture, with the waterfront sporting more modern buildings.
Start at Republic Square, a classic European plaza, and take Terazije headed south. You’ll run through Pionirski park and then the impressive Tasmajdan Park, a nice green space with a 500m tartan running track, additional paths, and a sports complex. Head back toward the centre, passing the neoclassical National Assembly building. Take Braće Jugovića, passing through the university and Studentski Park. Next, head east through the upscale Dorćol neighborhood. Our route uses Cara Uroša for 1 km toward the river, but you can explore the other neighborhood streets. C. Uroša accesses the path along the Danube River, which you’ll run for 1 km around the confluence with the Sava River.
Knez Mihailova St. Marcin Szala
At the Bastion of St. James, head up the hill to cut through Kalemegdan, a large, hilly park featuring a historic fortress, extensive walking paths, and great views. The park is divided into three sections: park, Upper Town, and Down Town. You can create your own route here and add some km. The Down Town (closer to the commercial centre) is flatter and has some wide allée type paths, especially around the Monument of Gratitude to France. Use Kneza Mihaila to complete the route, passing historic buildings, the Museum of Contemporary Serbian Art, and the Serbian National Museum.
Add-Ons: Additional paths in Kalemegdan, or along the river. Can also use Zemunski Bridge to access New Belgrade.

Scenic run in the New Belgrade part of Belgrade. A paved multi-use path runs alongside the west bank of the Danube River, from near the confluence of the Sava River, to the Zemun area. Up to 7 km one-way. Can be combined with Sava River route.
The Sava Promenade is one of the most scenic runs in Belgrade. Along this 5 km path, there are great views of the river, Kalemegdan Park/Fortress, and the Zemun area across the way. Good add-on options.
Kalemegdan is a large, hilly park in the historic center of Belgrade featuring a 2,000 year-old fortress, extensive paths, and great views. Put together a self-contained run of several km in the park, or combine with nearby river paths or our 'runseeing' tour.
One of the most popular runs in Belgrade is the 8 km loop around around the Ada Ciganlija Lake. Nice water views and a festive scene. There's a running track at the southeast end. The lake is popular for swimming & other watersports.
A 5 km out & back run on a path along the left bank of the Sava River in New Belgrade, an area built in the Soviet style after WW2. Nice water views and additional paths in the park spanning most of the route. Add on with ferry to Cignalija.
For some hilly running on forest trails, head to Košutnjak Park, located 6 km south of central Belgrade. There are hilly forest trails, a 1.2 km Tartan Track, and athletic facilities that are part of the School of Physical Education, University of Belgrade.
