The paved trail to the summit of Monte Picoto is a good opportunity for a hill run on an easy surface. The reward is great views from the summit! It’s fun to combine this with the small, pretty Parque da Ponte, an adjacent running track, and even the Ecovia path for a longer run.

Start with a ~ 1 km loop of Parque da Ponte, which comes off the Ecovia multi-use path. There’s a small lake, a chapel, and a sculpture of the bust of Professor Gonçalo Sampaio. Directly across the park is a running track at the Estádio 1.° de Maio. The parking lot/path for Parque do Picoto is directly across the N101. A paved path leads to the summit — it’s ~2 km, climbing about 100m. There are great views from the Miradouro (viewpoint). Retrace your steps back down the mountain.

Add-Ons: The  Ecovia route along the Rio Este is passes Parque da Ponte.
