The loop around Shihu Lake (Stone Lake) is one of the best places for a run in Suzhou. The lake is located in the Wuzhong District in the southern part of Suzhou. There are scenic paths right along the water, and numerous dramatic pedestrian bridges passing over the water. There are wonderful lake views, and lovely trees and flowers along the route. We’ve mapped shorter & longer loop options.

Shorter, Bridge Loop

This shorter loop is 6.5 km and follows dramatic bridges over the water. Starting at the Northwest Gate, follow the path along the east side of the lake, taking the Yongbo Bridge onto Peach Blossom Island on the water. Continue on the Shishi Bridge, looping around at the Binhu Scenic Spot (SW Gate). Run along the west side, which will take you over the Xiangxuan Bridge & Yucun Bridge — these are dramatic bridges over the water, with some boardwalk type sections.

Longer Loop

This loop is nearly 10 km. It starts at the same spot, but follows paths east of Peach Blossom Island, using several bridges: Guanhu, Jinfan, Qiting. Continue south past Meipu Hall, to do the extra section along Sixianyou Lake (more bridges!). Pass the South Gate, then loop around the west side, passing the Southwest Gate and follow the same west side route as the shorter option above.
