Gilford is a town on the southern end of Lake Winnipesaukee. There’s a decent combination of some lakeside running and some good trail running options.
Lakeside Running
One good option is the ~2 miles between Lincoln Park and Ellacoya State Park, using Belknap Point Rd./Scenic Dr. (note: no shoulder, but not busy). There are some nice lake views. Another option is Dockham Shore Rd., which runs for 1.5 miles, passing the Winnipesaukee Yacht Club. There are some lake views. One can connect these two using Rt. 11/11B, but it’s a busy road with little shoulder.
Trail Running
For some good trail running, head to the Gunstock Mountain area. There are several miles of easy-to-moderate trail running using the trails of the Gunstock Nordic Center. More challenging trails are up Gunstock Mountain, Mount Rowe and Cobble Mountain. There are also some trails in the Bellknap Range. TRAIL INFORMATION
