Just south of Silver Lake, the Winnipesaukee River Trail makes for a pleasant, nearly 5 mile run between Tilton and Franklin. The trail runs along a rail line that previously connected the paper industry between Franklin and Tilton. The flat, mainly wooded trail follows the outline of the Winnipesaukee River, with a few glimpses of the river. The surface is a combination of paved and crushed stone/dirt/gravel. It’s 4.8 miles one-way, and fairly flat.
The east end of the trail is just east of I-93 at Tilton Rd. in Tilton, at the Super 8 Motel. The trail heads west, to E Main St. in Tilton, where there’s a short gap. The trail picks up again at Gibson Ml Rd. off Park St., and continues west through Northfield and into Franklin, ending at Trestle View Park.
