This route is a nice loop combining the historic sections of Georgetown’s downtown, Guyana National Park, and the Kingston Esplanade — the most developed section of the Seawall. It can be combined or mix/matched with our other Georgetown routes.

The western park of Georgetown’s downtown is the best for running with older colonial buildings and some tree-lined streets. A good place to start is the Round House, a historic 19th-century, decagonal structure located on the Kingston seawall that was a garrison/observation point (refurbished in 2024). Head down High St./Main St. for ~2 km. It’s a lush, grass-covered avenue, with interesting colonial-era landmarks, such as the State House, Prime Minister’s Residence, and Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology. Pass St. George’s Cathedral, then LEFT on Brickdam Ave., which is Georgetown’s oldest street.

Run along Brickdam to Camp St., a major artery that features a dirt pedestrian path along its median. Run for 1.5 km to Guyana National Park, off Carifesta Ave. The park’s name is a bit of a misnomer. It’s a pleasant green space with recreational fields, walking paths, and sea views. A loop of the main path is 1.5 km. Good place to do some laps!. Finish the route with a nice section west along the Kingston Esplanade — a newly improved area with a pedestrian path along the Seawall.

Add-Ons: Add the Guyana Botanical Gardens by running another 1 km east along Brickdam Rd. Can also add more mileage along the Seawall
