Near downtown, there are several scenic historic districts that make for some pleasant neighborhood running. These are tree-lined streets with historic homes and good sidewalks. This is also a good shade option on a hot day, as the streets are pleasantly shaded. Our route map is a good guideline for creating your own route.

Cobbham Historic District. Start by exploring the fun shops & restaurants on Prince Ave. between Barber St. & Chase St., and then Cobb St., Hill St., & Hancock St. You’ll see a range of historic architectural styles — Antebellum, Federal, Greek Revival, Queen Anne and American Craftsman. Points of Interest

Boulevard & Buena Vista Historic Districts. Just north of Price, combine the Cobbham Tour with the Boulevard Historic District, which dates to the late 1800s. The mile-long Boulevard features Greek Revival, Queen Anne and Neoclassical-style houses, while brightly painted wood cottages — the former residences of textile mill workers — dot the side streets. There are lovely large trees that provide shade. Combine this with the Buena Vista neighborhood, off the Boulevard: Park Ave., & Yonah Ave. are especially lovely.
