Just 15 km north of Trani, there’s some nice running in the Barletta. The path isn’t as developed as in Trani, but there are good opportunities to stitch together a nice waterfront route that includes a loop around the Castello di Barletta, a restored Norman castle. The nicest section is the ~5 km between the Litoranea & Bagno 27.
Lungomare section. Google Street View.
Overall, the route is up to 8.6 km one-way. You can start as far south as Bamboo Beach, along the Litoranea di Levante. Run for 2 km north toward Barletta, and then enjoy a ~1 km loop on the paths around the Castello. Continue north along the Lungomare Pietro Paolo Mennea for another 2.5 km. This section features a good sidewalk alongside a beach that goes for nearly 5 km. Note that there’s a fairly busy road alongside. Past Bagno 27, the final 3 km are on the road — there’s no sidewalk, but not too much traffic. There are some water views here.
Add-Ons: Explore the narrow streets of the historic centre of Trani, between the water and Corso Imbriani.
