Bormio is a popular winter sports resort, and is the site of the Men’s downhill and snowboarding events for the 2026 winter games. In the non-winter months, the area is a hiker and trail runner’s delight, with scenic options for all abilities.

Bormio River Path, Google Street View

The best ‘easier’ run, and a run doable in winter as well, is the cycle path along the Adda River. The paved path runs along the river from near the center of Bormio, for 4.2 km. There are wonderful views of the water and surrounding mountains. Winter Note: The path is not ‘plowed’, but it gets a lot of foot traffic so snow does get packed down. Grippers are recommended.

Start at the river near the center of town. Head west along the river path for nearly 1 km, on a gradual downhill slope. Cross the SS38 and turn RIGHT, heading north for ~3 km along the Ciclopedonale on the east bank of the river. Enjoy the views!  The path ends in San Gallo, though there are additional paths and trails in the area.
