Brasília’s planned residential districts, Asa Norte and Asa Sul, offer some decent opportunities for running. These leafy neighborhoods are adjacent to the Federal District, with long north-south thoroughfares lined with modernist apartment buildings and curvier east-west streets that calm traffic.
Asa Sul is located south of the Jardim Blue Marx/Estação Central. The highlights of running in Asa Sul are Parque Asa Sul, which features 2.5 km of walking paths; and Parque Deck Sul, a lovely waterfront park with great views of the lake and the Ponte das Garças. Parque Deck Sul has cycle paths making for a ~3 km loop and some waterfront boardwalk paths. The best street running is on a path that mainly follows the traffic-calmed road that sits between the DF-002 and the Via L2 Sul.
We’ve also mapped a route of up to 13.5 km as a guideline. This includes a leafy pedestrian path starting near the Estação 108 Sul metro station that goes for 3 km to Parque Asa Sul, a loop of that park and then connecting to Parque Deck Sul. Another option is to do a loop combining the two parks, which would be ~9 km.
Longer Run/Add-Ons: Can be combined with part of our adjacent Monumental Axis route, Parque Cidade, or even Asa Norte for a super long run!
