Urban Forest — Železná Studnička

Wikimedia

Železná Studnička is a large ‘Urban Forest’ area just a few km north of Bratislava. Although popular for hiking and walking, there are lots of opportunities here for running as well. There’s an extensive series of trails, with options for flatter running on wide gravel paths, to more challenging trail running. There’s also a marked half-marathon circuit on a paved path, a 2.2 km section of which is lit at night!

A section of the area, known as Partizánska lúka, is closest to the city and proximal to the Železná Studnička train station. Enjoy paths, or sidewalks along the main road, Cesta mládeže. The scenery varies between woods, some sections along ponds, and open meadows. For more challenging trail running, take the path toward the 300m high Kamzík, which has great views from a hilltop TV tower. There’s even a ski lift in the area.

Note: we haven’t really been able to find a good on-line trail map…but there are very good maps in the park.
