The waterfront path accessible from the center of Florianópolis is the signature run in the city. Paved, dedicated pathways run along Baía Norte for up to 9 km. Along most of the way, there’s both a wide walkway/promenade, and a cycle path. There are wonderful views of the water and surrounding mountains the whole way.

There are two sections of this route: in central Florianópolis, the Ciclovia Beira mar Norte runs for 6 km along the water, around Ponta do Recife, ending at Manguezal Nature Preserve. For a longer run, there’s also a 2 km waterfront path in the Estreito neighborhood, using the scenic Ponte Hercílio Luz suspension bridge (good pedestrian access). Note: you have to get off the waterfront path to get access the bridge.
