Netham Park & St. George Park

Creative Commons: Linda Bailey

This short route explores a couple of pleasant parks and a section of the River Avon path in the eastern part of Bristol. Start at Netham Park, with a ~1 mile jaunt on a path along the River Avon. At the end, turn LEFT, heading north on the Strawberry Ln. path through the community garden. Continue onto the residential Glebe Rd. into St. George Park, a large Victorian park with nice paths, a lake, and a cafe kiosk with seating. A loop of the park is ~1 mile. Don’t miss the Avenue of the Trees! Exit the south end of the park onto Richmond Rd., then run through the Avonview Cemetery, into Netham Park, and do a loop around the fields.

Optional Add-On: Troopers Hill: a hilly nature preserve just east of Strawberry Community Garden — good to get the heart rate up!

Essentials
  • 3.7 mile (6 km) loop
  • 239 feet (72m)
  • Netham Park
  • Lawrence Hill train station is 0.5 miles from Newtham Park
