Corsica: Best Beaches for Running

Flickr: Valerie Hukalo

Corsica features 200 scenic along 1,000 km of coastline. Beautiful white sand, turquoise waters, cliffs & mountains in the background. However, the beaches on Corsica aren’t generally great for running, because the sand tends to be fine grained, even near the water. Also, many of the beaches are fairly narrow. Below are some of the best beaches for running on Corsica:

Calvi Beach. One of the longest beaches on Corsica, at ~6 km. Fairly narrow. Sand occasionally firm right near the water.

Arinella Beach & Marana Beach.  Can combine these two northeast coast beaches for a longer beach run. They’re wider. Sand generally soft. Also, the road alongside the beach, Rte des Marines de Borgo, is runnable — there’s a sidewalk/shoulder, and there are occasional water views, especially near the Biguglia Lagoon (see our route there).

Palombaggia Beach. One of the most beautiful beaches on Corsica, with white sand & turquoise waters. It’s fairly wide, but the sand is fairly grainy near the water. 1.5 km long, though there’s a break and one has to drive between the two sections.

Santa Giulia Beach. In Porto-Vecchio, this beautiful crescent-shaped beach stretches for several km and has some firmer sand near the water. One of the more runnable beaches on Corsica.

Campomoro Beach. On the southwest coast not far from Propriano. This beach is only 1 km long, but features some of the firmer sand on the island.
