In the far northwest suburbs of Dallas, this concrete rail trail follows the A-Train line for 21 miles between Lewisville and Denton. It’s a great opportunity to clock some off-road miles, as the trail passes through Lewisville, Highland Village, Lake Dallas, and Corinth, before ending in downtown Denton. The trail was completed in several sections. It’s not 100% bucolic, as it runs alongside a train and some busy roads. Pro Tip: Use the train for a longer one-way option!
The south end of the trail starts at the Hebron train station in Lewisville. Miles 2.0-5.5 are along roads. Miles 6.5-10.5 are alongside the train tracks paralleling I-35 crossing Lewisville Lake. Miles 12-15 are away from the highway, passing through a more residential area. From Corinth to Denton, the trail follows the train line, paralleling I-35E, but away from it. Note: the northern ~10 miles of the trail is also called the Denton Katy Trail.
