In the northern part of Dover, one can stitch together a decent run around the campus of Delaware State University, and combine that with the State St. bridge.

One of the first land grant universities, Delaware State has a pleasant campus for running. Combine the numerous interior paths with a 1.7 mile loop around the campus on the perimeter road (there’s a sidewalk path alongside most of it). There’s also a terrific running track at Alumni Stadium at the the northwest edge of campus.

For a longer run, head out of the southern end of the university onto Highway 13 for 0.25 miles (there’s a sidewalk), then onto State St., where there’s a scenic run on the bridge over Silver Lake (good sidewalk) into Richardson Park. For more, continue for 0.5 miles into Silver Lake Park, where there’s a pleasant wooded path to Division St.

Longer Option: Pick up the Capital City Trail at Division St.
