Dover is the second most populous city in Delaware. It’s located on the St. Jones River in the Delaware Coastal Plain. Delaware State University and the Dover Air Force base are anchors of Dover’s economy and culture. The centerpiece of running in Dover is the Capital City Trail and numerous offshoot trails, as well as several medium-sized parks.

The best place to run in Dover is the Capital City Trail, which passes the Capitol historic area and can be combined with the St. Jones River Greenway/Isaac’s Branch Trail. Silver Lake Park has some nice trails for running, and can be combined with the Capital City Trail and paths around Delaware State University. In the southern part of Dover, we love running in Brecknock County Park and easy trail running around woods and wetlands at Hunn Nature Park.
