This route highlights Carson Park, a lovely park on Halfmoon Lake just west of downtown. Run just in the park, or run from downtown, using Grand Ave., which adds ~1.5 miles.
In Carson Park, a loop is ~2.5 miles using the perimeter road, Half Moon Dr. The terrain is a combination of open and wooded, with some glimpses of the lake (more in winter when there aren’t leaves). There’s a historic baseball stadium, local museums, and athletic fields. Exit the south end of the park using the path alongside Carson Park Rd., and then enjoy ~1 mile along the east side of Half Moon Lake, using the Chippewa River State Trail.
Loop Option from Downtown: Take Grand Ave. or Lake St., which are wide street with nice homes, for 1 mile west to the bridge that crosses into Carson Park. To make it a nice loop, exit the Halfmoon Lake path at the north end and use Randall St. and 1st Ave., crossing into Phoenix Park.
Add-Ons: Combine with our Eau Claire Parks tour or additional paths along the Chippewa River.
