Evergreen State College & Area Roads

CC 4.0: Joe Mabel

Evergreen State College, located in the northern part of Olympia on the Eld Inlet, has an attractive campus for running. The college, known for its non-traditional curriculum, spans 1,000 acres of forest close to the southern end of the Puget Sound, and even has its own saltwater beach! For running, there are pleasant pedestrian paths on the main campus, with its numerous gardens and ‘Grassy Knoll”. There are also lovely, narrow dirt paths that lead for ~ 1 mile west to the Organic Farm, and north for nearly 1 mile through an attractive forest to Geoduck Beach, where there are additional beach trails.

For additional running in the area, there are numerous quiet, mainly wooded roads near campus. There’s also a bike path along Evergreen Pkwy, which goes south for 2 miles to Highway 101, or east for 1.5 miles to Cooper Point Rd.

Essentials
  • 4-5 miles combining campus paths and paths to beach & farm; 4 miles of bike path along Evergreen Pkwy.
  • Main college campus
