Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve & Reforestation Camp Trails

There are a couple of good trail running destinations just north of Green Bay in Suamico: Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and the Reforestation Camp Trails.

Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve. This 920-acre reserve on Green Bay features 9 miles of trails around marshes, forest, and wetlands. It’s easy to moderate trail running on a variety of surfaces. To make it a run of decent length, you’ll have to combine a few of the overlapping trails on the map. Note that it’s best to run here in summer and fall. In winter, the trails are used for XC skiing, and they can be wet and muddy in spring.  TRAIL CONDITIONS WINTER

Reforestation Camp Trails. Located 7 miles north of Barkhausen and 13 miles north of Green Bay. Good spot for trail running, with 7 miles of trails. This is more rugged and challenging than Barkhausen. Surface is a combination of crushed stone, dirt, grass. The 3.9 mile Oaks Trail is rated as ‘advanced’.

NOTE:  In winter, the trails are used for XC skiing, and they can be wet and muddy in spring.  TRAIL CONDITIONS WINTER
