Helsingborg ‘Runseeing’ Tour

Creative Commons: H Pettersson

This ‘runseeing’ tour is a great way to get introduced to Helsingborg, and hits all the highlights: Old Town, some pretty waterfront sections, and several parks.

Kärnan castle

Start in Old Town, and head toward the water. The first 2 km is north on a path along the marina, passing the Dunkers cultural center, and then through Gröningen waterfront park. Part of this parallels Kungsgatan — the pedestrianized, main shopping street of Helsingborg. Turn around where the path ends at Örestrandsbadet beach. Then head slightly east to run south through a series of nice parks. Start with Margaret’s Square (Margaretaplatsen). Then use Persgatan to connect to Vikingsberg Park, picking up the Landborgspromenaden path, which continues through Öresundsparken park. Continue south into Slottshagen park, the highlight of which is the Kärnan tower — the remains of a medieval castle. Finally, use Södra Storgatan to connect to Stadsparken, location of the attractive City Library. The return uses Järnvägsgatan — a main street but with wide sidewalks and lots to see!

Add-On: From the northern end of the waterfront path at Örestrandsbadet beach, continue north on Strandvägen for 0.6 km to connect to a pleasant running path to the ‘Tunnel of Love‘, the Kullaleden Helsingborg national forest, and farm-like paths around the Pålsjö nature reserve.
