Huế is a southernmost coastal city in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam. The city receives more than 4 million visitors annually, to see its walled Imperial City & enjoy the nearby coastline. The best options for running in Huế center on the Perfume River, which passes through the city. Near Huế are some fantastic and popular beaches, which are great for running.
All of the main running routes in Huế are centrally located and can be combined. The best place to run in Huế are the several km of paths on the north & south banks of the Perfume River, with good loop options involving the three main bridges. Another favorite run in Huế is the park-like perimeter paths/roads around the Imperial City. There’s also a good sidewalk for running on the road that runs alongside the sông An Cựu River. Runners also head to Tố Hữu Road, which has a wide sidewalk & median path. There’s a running track at sân Tự Do stadium. For beach running, Thuan An Beach is closest, while the popular, scenic Lang Co & Cuanh Dong beaches are 60 km south.
Runner Notes: Plan for Huế’s tropical monsoon climate, which features intense heat & humidity, and 700mm+ (30 inches) of rain in the September-December monsoonal months. Also, outside the river and historic center, it’s very dense, with a relative lack of good infrastructure for running.
