Hyderabad is the capital and largest city of Telengana, India, located on the south-central Indian peninsula. Once known as the “City of Pearls,” Hyderabad is now the fourth most populous city in India, with an important economy centered around the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Running in Hyderabad can be challenging due to the crowded streets and infrequent sidewalks, but there are a few good options if you know where to look.
Popular places to run in Hyderabad include the Necklace Road around Hussain Sagar lake and the peripheral jogging path of Kasu Brahmanandha Reddy (KBR) Park. Runners can find more paths at the Durgam Cheruvu Walkway, the Hyderabad Botanical Garden, and Osmania University. For road running, some of the better spots include the Cantonment area and Nanakramguda Financial District, near the Indian School of Business.
Hyderabad has a convenient and extensive public transportation system for getting around. There is bus service to most key points in the city, a metro, as well as affordable cabs and auto rickshaws. For safety’s sake, we recommend using public transport to travel to one of these designated running routes.
