Namur is a city of about 130,000 and is the capital of both the provinces of Namur and Wallonia. It sits at the confluence of the Sambre and Meuse rivers, and has a strategic position that led the city to be at the front lines of battels in WWI & WWII. There’s nice running in Namur, mainly on the longer distance cycle paths along the rivers and headed north of the city.

A great place to start is with our ‘runseeing’ tour of Namur, which includes the historic centre, parks, and Citadelle. The best places to run in Namur are on paths along the Meuse and Sambre rivers. There’s also a pleasant cycle path headed north of town, passing through farm fields. Runners can also create their own route on the large network of quiet farm roads just outside the city — just make sure to avoid the ‘N’ roads!
