This is a guide to the best places to run in Perpignan, a city in the Pyrénées-Orientales in Southern France. It’s located at the foot of the Pyrenees and a few km from the Mediterranean Sea. There’s some nice running in Perpignan, mainly focused on routes along the Basse & Têt rivers, and the Lac de Villeneuve-de-la-Raho, a popular recreation area. See also our running guide for the coastal area just 15 km to the east: Côte Vermeille & the Plages du Roussillon.
In Perpignan, the signature running route is to combine the Square Bir Hakeim (the city’s ‘green lung’) with paths along the Basse River. Nearby are also paths along the Têt River. In the Catalunya district, there are paths along the Canal de Perpignan that run for 25+ km to Canohès. Lac de Villeneuve-de-la-Raho is a destination run, popular for the 6.7 lake loop & other recreational activities. Just to the east, see our running guide to the coastal area, with waterfront routes in Le Barcarès, Canet-en-Roussillon, Saint-Cyprien, and Argelès-sur-Mer. On the Côte Vermeille, we have routes in Collioure and Port-Vendres.
