The Bahamas is an island country within the Lucayan Archipelago of the West Indies in the Atlantic Ocean. Several of its islands are popular visitor destinations, for their wonderful weather and beaches. Great Runs has developed running guides for three of the Bahamas Islands: New Providence, location of Bahamas’ capital and largest city, Nassau; Grand Bahama, home to Freeport, the country’s second largest city; and Eleuthera.

The best running in the Bahamas is in the Nassau area, where there are some scenic waterfront roads, paths, and great beaches for running. On Grand Bahama and Eleuthera, the main roads are not safe for running, as they lack sidewalks/shoulders. We’ve researched the quieter, safer roads and the best beaches for running.

Runners should be prepared for the hot & humid weather in the Bahamas and the fact that many of the roads are very exposed. ALso, be on the lookout for loose dogs in some of the quieter areas.
