Wuxi, China

Wuxi is a city of 7.5 million in the southern part of Jiangsu province. The city lies in the southern Yangtze delta and borders Lake Tai and is divided into five districts. Most of the best running in Wuxi is along the various waterways that populate Wuxi, plus a few larger parks. Our thanks to Joylin Nodwell for Wuxi route suggestions!

One of the best places to run in Wuxi is a scenic pathway along the Liangxi River. Also in this area is several miles possible along the Canal, especially in the Bodu River Park area. In the Taihu Lake (Lake Tai) area, there are some waterfront paths, and a series of wetlands that offer some scenic running at the northeastern part of the lake, and Yuantouzhu Park on Turtle Head Island at the northwestern end. For parks, we love running in Lihu Central Park near Li Lake, and a route combining Xihui Park with Huishan Ancient Town. Those who like hills and trails should head to Huishan Forest Park just west of Huishan Old Town.

Runner Notes: Many of our routes don’t have maps, as most of the digital mapping services don’t specify paths or trails in Wuxi. Also note that summers are hot and very humid.
