Western University Campus and Adjacent Parks

One can put together a very pleasant run combining the bucolic campus of Western University and other area parks and paths. Western is one of Canada’s more significant universities, with some 40,000 students. The campus is located just north of downtown London, and features numerous a large network of  pedestrian paths passing by impressive buildings. The heart of the campus is located east of Western Road, the main road running through campus, and continues over to the eastern side of the Thames River.

South of Campus: Head just south to Gibbons Park and run along the Thames Valley Parkway south to town and additional trails along the Thames River.

West of Campus: There 10.9 km of excellent trails in the Medway Valley Heritage Forest, centered around Medway Creek. Note: this is more challenging trail running.

Northeast of Campus:  Run on the Thames River Trail through the North London Athletic Fields and then following the river for 4+ km toward Kilally Valley Park and Kilally Meadows. There are numerous additional side jaunts to smaller parks and athletic fields.
