Amerson River Park

Creative Commons: Kehli.west

Amerson River Park is a park on the Ocmulgee River in northwestern Macon that’s a good spot for a run. The park is named after Frank Amerson, who was chairman of the Macon Water Authority for 36 years.

The park features 3-4 miles of trails, mainly paved, around a combination of terrain that includes woods, wetlands, and meadows. It’s officially part of the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, though it’s not connected at this time to the section of trail further south (there are plans to do so).

Essentials
  • 3-4 miles of trails
  • Take N Pierce Ave. off I-75
