Carolyn Clayton Park

Google Street View

Carolyn Clayton Park is the signature park in central Macon. It’s named after Carolyn Clayton, who founded the city’s famous cherry blossom festival. One can do an enjoyable run within the park, or combine with the OIcmulgee Heritage Trail for a longer run.

It’s an attractive park, with athletic fields and a gazebo. A loop of the paths is about 2 miles. This includes a dirt track of exactly 1 mile…so do some laps there! For a longer run, hop onto the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, which starts in the park and heads north along the Ocmulgee River for 2.7 miles to Jackson Springs Park.

Essentials
  • Park loop is ~2 miles, including a 1 mile track loop
  • Fairly flat
  • Parking lot in the park
